2011 PINOT NOIR

2012 Patrician Verona Pinot Noir-4002011 Patrician Verona Vineyard Pinot Noir

Pinot File – Rusty Gaffney, The Prince of Pinot
Complex and enticing nose offering scents of black cherry, spice, forest floor, deep red rose petal and toast.  Very flavorful with a core of fresh cherry fruit accented by red currant and dried herb tastes.  Modest in weight with integrated tannins, supportive oak and an appealingly polished demeanor.
Score: 90

Burghound – Allen Meadows
A more deeply pitched nose trimmed is subtle wood offers up notes of both red and dark cherry, raspberry, earth and plenty of floral character.  There is a seductive palate feel to the attractively intense middle weight flavors that display a fine sense of volume along with a sleek muscularity on the slightly drying and short finish.  I again like the delivery but the dryness is sufficiently prominent that I would suggest drinking this with the appropriate food.  Drink 2016+

2011 HHV Pinot Noir4002011 Hobbit Hollow Vineyard Pinot Noir

Pinot File – Rusty Gaffney, The Prince of Pinot
More intense cherry aroma and flavor in this wine with a dusting of oak and spice.  The firm but not astringent tannins are supportive and the mid palate fruit carries over nicely to the satisfying and juicy finish.
Score: 89

Burghound – Allen Meadows
This is more elegant still and while the oak treatment is not invisible it is more completely integrated into the fresh floral, red currant and spice suffused nose.  There is good volume and punch to the delicious medium-bodied flavors that possess a rounded mouth feel before terminating in a dusty but not really austere finish that again displays a touch of slightly drying asperity.  This also lacks a bit of phenolic maturity but in this case it is really very slight plus I like the overall depth and persistence.  In sum, the balance isn’t perfect but I like the delivery.  Drink 2017+

2011 EV Pinot Noir4002011 Elaine’s Vineyard Pinot Noir

Pinot File – Rusty Gaffney, The Prince of Pinot
Charming aromas of cherries, rose petal, baking spice and herbal oak.  Good intensity of cherry flavor with a hint of brown spice, rose water and complimentary oak.  Noticeable but not intrusive tannins with an uplifting backbone of acidity. A juicy wine with some charm.
Score: 88

Burghound – Allen Meadows
Here too there is a distinct floral note to the layered red pinot fruit aromas that are trimmed in enough wood toast to notice.  The palate impression of the medium weight flavors is round and supple with the same appealing sense of energy, all wrapped in a slightly riper finish though again the finish displays some asperity and austerity.  Though this is more complex and a more complete wine I fear that it may dry out with extended aging and thus I would advise drinking it on the younger side for its fruit.
Score: 87

Burghound – Allen Meadows
A pretty and distinctly floral nose evidences notes of spice on the elegant and very pure red pinot fruit scents.  There is good detail and energy to the lighter weight flavors that possess a touch of asperity on the youthfully austere finish.  Drink 2016+
