2009 RIESLING

2009 Reserve Riesling

Wine Spectator – James Molesworth

This is concentrated, with a pleasant lacing of bitter almond running through the dense core of Key lime, green plum and fig fruit flavors. The long finish lets a jasmine note play out, with plenty in reserve. Needs to stretch out a bit in the cellar.  63 cases made.

Score: 90

2009 Hobbit Hollow Vineyard Riesling

Wine Spectator – James Molesworth

This is stylish, with tasty green plum and green fig fruit backed by well-integrated acidity.  Long and fresh, with a nice twinge of bitter almond flashing on the finish.  25 cases made.

Score: 89

2009 Riesling

Wine Spectator – James Molesworth

Ripe and rounded, with green fig, green almond and melon notes that stay focused, with a streak of jasmine on the finish.  191 cases made.

Score: 88

2009 Sawmill Creek Riesling

Wine Spectator – James Molesworth

Already shows a hint of marzipan, along with green apple and green fig notes.  There’s a floral edge on the juicy, slightly plump finish.  Offers good length despite the up-front profile.  25 cases made.

Score: 88

2009 PINOT NOIR

2009 Hobbit Hollow Vineyard Pinot Noir

Burghound – Allan Meadows

An intensely spicy and alluringly fresh nose of dark berry fruit liqueur and dried flowers is followed by delicious, round and impressively vibrant medium-bodied flavors that possess a real sense of harmony. The dusty, cool and reserved finish is dry in the best sense and I very much like the understated style of this firm and built-to-age offering.

Score:  90

2009 Barrel Reserve Pinot Noir

Wine Spectator – James Molesworth

Mature, but fleshy and holding nicely, with dark fig, mulled currant and cherry paste flavors rolled up with singed black tea leaf and tobacco notes.  Offers a smoky feel through the finish.  324 cases made.

Score: 89

2009 Pinot Noir

Burghound – Allan Meadows

An exuberantly fruit but not simple aromatic profile enjoys added breadth from the presence of discreet spice and floral notes.  I very much like the depth on the dusty and mildly austere finish that offers fine persistence.  The fruit profile is not Burgundian but the palate impression is.

Score:  89

2009 Polarity

Wine Spectator – James Molesworth

An intriguing white, with very broad, creamy ginger, tangerine and honeysuckle notes laced with a note of almond cream.  A bit soft in the end, but with interesting flavors.  A white wine, made from Pinot Noir. 47 cases made.

Score: 87
