Crush Camp

Heart & Hands Wine company is pleased to announce a unique opportunity for those interested in doing some hands-on winemaking this harvest season.

If you have always dreamed of owning your own winery or simply need a break from the daily grind, Heart & Hands is pleased to offer the perfect package to acclimate you to the demands of harvest – or at least 4 days of harvest!   We’ve decided to offer 10 individuals the opportunity to participate in harvest and winemaking activities from September 30th through October 3th, 2010. 

Based on the timing of the grapes, Crush Camp participants will most likely perform the following activities alongside the winemaking team:

  • Picking fruitDave Roach putting grapes into the press
  • Sorting Grapes
  • Daily punchdowns
  • Lab analysis
  • Pressing grapes
  • ...and plenty of equipment cleaning!

But it isn’t all work and no play!  Participants will enjoy the bounty of harvest dining from the Aurora Inn, Red Newt Bistro, and Pumpkin Hill Bistro.   In addition, participants will receive 6 bottles of wine from the 2010 harvest upon release, so that they may enjoy the fruit of their labor!  Finally, each participant will receive a complimentary gift bag with plenty of goodies and wearables to keep your good clothes from getting dirty.

Here is a tentative schedule of activities.  Please note, specific winemaking activities may vary within the schedule, as we are dependent upon mother nature's influence on the grapes!

- Thusday, September 30th

  • Afternoon - Greeting & begin work at winery
  • Evening - Dinner in the barrel room provided by Aurora Inn

- Friday, October 1st

  • Morning - Picking at vineyard/work at winery
  • Afternoon - Lunch and work at winery
  • Evening - Dinner at Pumpkin Hill Bistro

- Saturday, October 2nd

  • Morning -  Work at the winery
  • Afternoon - Lunch and Vineyard Visit
  • Evening - Dinner at Red Newt Bistro (transportation provided)

- Sunday, October 3rd

  • Morning -  Work at the winery
  • Afternoon - Lunch and send off from winery

Package Cost is $499 plus sales tax and includes meals as described above, vineyard and winery activities, 6 bottles of wine from the 2010 vintage and a gift bag.  Accomodations and transportation (other than transport to the Red Newt dinner) are not included in the package, and should be arranged separately by the participant.  We are happy to provide recommendations upon request. 


Accomodations: We have reserved blocks of rooms at the following inns and hotels.  Please indicate that you are coming for "Heart & Hands Crush Camp" when making your reservation to receive our a special rate.

Transportation
